Aesculus parviflora - This shrub was introduced from the south-eastern United States in 1820. It makes a shapely bush 8 feet high. The leaves are five parted and of large size.

The flowers are borne in profusion in long, slender racemes during July and August. They are white in colour and have long, protruding stamens.

It makes an excellent specimen shrub for a lawn, And can be increased by division. It has been called Pavia macrostachya.
