Anthyllis

A genus of Leguminosae somewhat resembling Cytisus. The majority are from southern Europe and are not very hardy. A. Barba-Jovis, from Spain in 1640, makes a good plant for a warm wall. It has pinnate leaves covered with a dense, silky tomentum.

The flowers are pale yellow and in small round heads. A. Hermanniae (southern Europe in 1739) forms a dense bush 2 to 3 feet high, and bears heads of yellow flowers in April. This is hardier than the former.
