Aralia

A couple of species of this genus of Araliaceae make striking objects, the leaves being large and handsome, and the flowers white or cream in very large upright panicles, sometimes followed by black fruits.

Aralia Chinensis, from China, makes long, strong branches furnished with large heads of compound leaves which are from 2 to 3 feet long. The best leaves are obtained by cutting the plants well back annually. Albo-marginata has prettily variegated leaves and has only been in commerce a short time. Canescens and pyramidalis are other varieties.
