A genus of Chenopodiaceae of no great value horticulturally. A confertifolia, from the western United States, makes a dense, dwarf bush with small, white, evergreen foliage; the young leaves as they appear are red. A. Halamus, the Tree Purslane (south Europe), grows 4 feet high and bears glaucous leaves. It is a suitable plant for a mixed bed of coloured foliage shrubs.
