Garrya elliptica

Garrya elliptica is the only species of this genus of Cornaceae worthy of general cultivation. It was introduced from California in 1818. For general purposes the male form is the one to use, its value centring in its long, yellowish green catkins, which are borne from December to March. It can be planted against a wall or in the open, and forms a good evergreen bush. Loamy soil is suitable.
