Laurus nobilis

This is a well known evergreen, with fragrant leaves, belonging to Lauraceae, and is commonly called Sweet Bay. It is found in the Mediterranean region, and was introduced in 1562. It will grow in ordinary garden soil, but should not be tried in very cold places. The Bay is often grown as pyramids or mop headed standards in tubs for the decoration of rooms, corridors, terraces, and other places.
