Prunus (Plum)

Prunus cerasifera, the Myrobalan or Cherry Plum, grows 15 to 20 feet high, and forms a round headed tree, with pure white blossoms, which are borne in March, and are succeeded by bright red, round fruits. The variety atropurpurea has purple leaves, and is often called Prunus Pissardi. Native of the Caucasus.

Prunus divaricata is from the Caucasus, and is very like the former, but the fruits are yellow and not so round.

Prunus spinosa, the Sloe or Blackthorn, should be represented by its double flowered variety, flore pleno.
